Messenger records

As you have seen for other types of records, the Messenger Chats are shown in their specific panel.

On the top left, a friends list, for you to select; on the bottom left, the chat records list corresponding to the selected friend. On the right you can monitor the conversation saved for each record. You can adjust the width and height of these areas.

Messenger friends list

Whenever a user starts a conversation with a new Messenger friend (or vice versa), net-MaMMa creates a new friend in the friends list and the respective chat records will start to be monitored and associated to this friend. For each record you have the following headers:

  • Name: the name (or nickname) of the friend with whom the user chatted with;
  • e-mail: the friend’s e-mail. The e-mail identifies all the friends. Even if the friend changes his Messenger username, his e-mail remains.

The net-MaMMa administrator can classify each friend according to his own criteria, after monitoring the chats. This classification might be “Safe” or “Risky”. Then, if your child has a conversation with a “risky” friend, you can see it in the summary, when you log in. And you can also use this classification to filter the chats.

The list allows multiple selections – you can select different records to block delete, change or apply definitions. To select several records you should use the mouse together with “Shift” or “Ctrl” key, as you would do to select multiple files within a folder, in Windows Explorer.

Chats list

For each Messenger friend there will be a list of the various chats your child had with. The chat list has only one column header:

  • Date: is the date when the chat occurred.

The filter applies to Messenger friends and not to their chats. The chat list has a specific toolbar in the upper part of the list itself. This toolbar has only one function - delete the chats: select the chats you wish to delete and press the button.

Main Toolbar’s options:

This panel has a toolbar for you to interact with the records that you selected from the list. Some of the actions can be performed on selected blocks of records. The available actions are:

Classifies as “Safe” the friends you selected in the friends list.
Classifies as “Risky” the friends you selected in the friends list.
If you have this button active, all classifications you perform with the records will be applied to all computer users. If the button is active and you classify a friend, the classification will be valid for all users.
Deletes the selected Messenger friend and all related chats records.
Filters the list to show only friends classified as “Safe”
Filters the list to show only friends classified as “Risky”
Filters the list to show only friends classified as “Unknown” (not yet classified).
