This is where you can define rules to block Internet pages.
It is possible to block Internet pages by server or by keyword, not allowing monitored users to browse through not allowed sites.
It is preferable to block using the addresses and servers.
Whilst keywords are a fast way to block several dangerous sites, they should be used carefully: When you block an inappropriate word, you might be blocking several other words which contain the inappropriate word.
As an example, if you block the word “sex”, net-MaMMa would block all internet pages that have this word in its address – e.g.: the site sextile.com, a site related to astrological issues that you might not want to block.
Dangerous Internet addresses
The interface to manage Dangerous Internet pages is very simple to use:
To add new addresses, type in the box at the bottom and press the "+" button on the down right corner.
If you need to change any listed address, select it from the list, edit it in the bottom box and press the "+" button as if you were to add a new address.
In the toolbar you have a button to delete Internet pages selected from the list. When you delete these pages from the list, they will not be forbidden anymore.
Be careful when adding new Internet pages.
Whenever it is possible, do it using the tools from the Internet navigation records. When you decide to add directly an Internet page, using this interface, you must be careful, because there are Internet servers that may contain Dangerous inner pages but also other harmless – if you add the server, you will be blocking both.
If we choose to analyze the site www.playboy.com – this server is an exclusively adult content server. Adding "playboy.com" to the dangerous addresses list, net-MaMMa will block all connections to this server. If you add "playboy.com/innerfolder", net-MaMMa will block only pages inside the “innerfolder” folder. In this case we should, instead, block the entire server.
But if we pay attention to the case of www.freewebs.comwhich is a server who allows people to place there their web pages: If someone would have there a page which content you would like to block, such the following not real example: "www.freewebs.com/objectionablecontent", you should not add the server because you don’t wish to block thousands of harmless pages. In this case, you should add the directory "freewebs.com/objectionablecontent"
Keywords
You should be careful when you add them.
The advantage to use keywords is that net-MaMMa uses these keywords to block malicious searches in search engines. This is the keywords interface:
It is identical to the dangerous Internet addresses interface and works the same way.
In this list, you see the word “porn”. Net-MaMMa will block all Internet addresses that include the word "porn".
Besides, it will block searches for this word in all search engines. This list shows a list of Internet addresses that would be blocked by net-MaMMa:
